Lantern Antiques the oldest antique shop in Dublin Francis St
We are the oldest antique shop in Dublin Francis St, the centre of
what is called The Liberties. Called The Liberties because in old
times people who lived in this area of Dublin were deemed to enjoy the
freedom of the City of Dublin, thought living outside its walls. We
developed our antique business through experience and with the freedom
to learn by trial and error. We specialised in
old antique glass and
mirrors and
antique chandeliers because of our interests.
For most of this time we had a large business in vintage posters and
magazines, in Guinnness items especially, and in antique pub
paraphernalia.
Most of the items we sold are now spread around the world - England, USA, Europe, Australia. As you will see from the homes of our customers we are at our best when we are asked to find specific items for specific areas of a house. This can be seen especially in the 19th Century redbrick Dublin house where an old bathroom has been enhanced by the clever use of unusual antiques - like the door(seen from the inside) and door-frame(seen from the outside).Most of our business has been developed around the job of searching for antiques.
